YOUTH SAFE SCHOOL COMMITTTEES The Youth Safe Schools Committee (YSSC) is a key component of our school-based Fourth R program, helping to ensure that students receive a consistent message about preventing violence and promoting healthy relationships both in the classroom and in the school and community. |
ABORIGINAL GRADE 8 TRANSITION CONFERENCE Grade 8 Aboriginal Transition Conferences have been held since the start of the 2007 school year. The fundamental purpose was to help prepare senior elementary school students for a successful transition to high school. |

THE ABORIGINAL CULTURAL LEADERSHIP COURSE The Aboriginal Cultural Leadership Course was developed and piloted in three TVDSB secondary schools between September 2007 and June 2008. |
ABORIGINAL PEER MENTORING PROGRAMS The Peer Mentoring Program for Aboriginal Youth ran from September 2007 and June 2008 at three TVDSB secondary schools whose school populations included a high percentage of Aboriginal students. |

VIDEO DIVERSITY PROJECTS Youth identified issues that result in conflicts (e.g., substance use, teen pregnancy, racism, poverty), developed scenarios to highlight effective ways to resolve these conflicts, and made a video depicting a range of communication and problem-solving skills. These videos will be used across the country as an additional resource for the program. |
